Why It's Important To Embrace Birthdays Each And Every Year: A 40th Birthday Celebration

It’s no secret that there’s a stigma around aging. As kids, birthdays are something we look forward to — a special kind of exhilarating joy. Friends and family gathering for a day full of activities, food, and fun. A full day of YOU!

But how often do you see it dwindle as people age? It transforms from something magical to something we hardly want to acknowledge.

Why is that?

We get so caught up in negative thoughts around wrinkles, gray hair, and achy joints — but what about our experiences, memories, and growth? Each day is the best time to be the age that you are. It’s a privilege to get older and a blessing to watch yourself become the person you always hoped to be.

The Gift of Life

I am someone who embraces life and celebrates the true gift of being a part of this world surrounded by the people I love the most. So what better way to rejoice than dedicating a whole month to 40 years.

It’s good to take time for you around your birthday. I like to focus on self-care and things that make me happy, such as…

🖤 All kinds of dresses

🖤 Kringle 209 perfume

🖤 Spas and wellness centers

🖤 Facials

🖤 Massages

🖤 High heels

🖤 Saunas

🖤 Classical music

🖤 Coaches & mentors

Family Values

Family means everything to me — so I look forward to each year I grow older and the precious moments I get to spend with them. Nothing in the world compares to the love we have or the relationships we share.

I cherish…

🖤 Baking with my daughters

🖤 Jumping on the bed with my kids

🖤 Driving with all the windows down

🖤 Dancing on table tops

🖤 Mornings drinking matcha with my husband

🖤 Long walks with the whole family

🖤 Owning our ranch

🖤 Homemade meals together

These opportunities to connect with my family will always be a reason to dedicate a whole month to celebrations and embrace each and every birthday that comes.

Reasons to Celebrate

Did you know that on any given day there are at least 15 million people celebrating their birthday? That means 15 million other people with stories that began on the same day as you.

And guess what — out of those 15 million people and 15 million stories, you are 100% uniquely you. No one has lived the same life that you have.

I like to take in the small things that bring me joy, like…

🖤 Handwritten letters

🖤 Candles

🖤 Old-school televisions

🖤 Home phones with cords

🖤 Paintings

🖤 Journals

🖤 Lamps

🖤 Uncomfortable furniture

🖤 Antique or vintage decor

🖤 Roses

🖤 Being around water

🖤 Storms with thunder & lightning

🖤 Snow

🖤 Good food

🖤 Coffee

🖤 Desserts

🖤 Chocolate covered strawberries

Taking the time to reflect on your life and what’s to come is a great way to process growth and change — and a good excuse for cake.

Takeaway

“The way I see it, every year can be a brand new journey. Think about it: You get one chance to be 25, 38, 44, 61 and every age before and between. Why wouldn’t you want to experience all the wonder in each step on your own path?” - Oprah Winfrey

Go out and experience all the wonders that the world has to offer.

I love to explore…

🖤 Gardens

🖤 Libraries

🖤 Train rides

🖤 Traveling

🖤 Europe

🖤 History

🖤 Museums

Age is a number, yes, but don’t get upset about it rising each year — it means you are living. Every sunrise and sunset means new beginnings for every chapter.

No matter if you are 22 or 82, give yourself some credit for the life that you have worked so hard for and all the moments in between.
